Travel Plan- Discover the best of Taipei, New Taipei and Keelung (Fun Parent-Child Itinerary)

Day 1

1st Stop: Maokong Gondola (9:00-12:00)

  • Directions: Take Taipei Metro Wen-hu Line to Taipei Zoo (BR01) and walk to the gondola station.
  • Admissions: Present the Taipei Fun Pass for ticket redemption at the Chance gift shop next to the Taipei Zoo Station of Maokong Gondola.
  • Tips for Visiting: If the glass-floor gondola is your thing, remember to line up in front of the sign “the Eye of Maokong Gondola.” If the line turns out to be too long, don’t get upset. You can try again on your way back.

A one-way ride on the 40.3km-long Maokong Gondola takes 30 minutes. As the car rises gently after exiting the Taipei Zoo station, you would find it hard to take your eyes away from the view. The lush green hills plus Taipei’s skyline are simply spectacular! Arriving at Maokong Station, you’d see that even the air is fresher. With restaurants, tea houses and trails around, Maokong is indeed a desirable local place to relax, have a nice meal and take delight in the view.

2nd Stop: Taipei Zoo (12:30-16:00)

  • Directions: Take Maokong Gondola at Maokong Station and get off at Taipei Zoo Station.

Taipei Zoo is always a popular attraction for both adults and children. Adults find their childhood memories. Children learn knowledge and have fun. After entering the zoo, you can take shuttle bus and visit the Penguin House, African Animal Area, Australian Animal Area, and Desert Animal Area. Along the way are easy downhill roads. Finally, visit the Panda House and Koala House, the most anticipated areas for children. Watching the animals wander and eat is the best part to heal your soul.

3rd Stop: Miramar Entertainment Park (17:00-21:00)

  • Directions: After leaving Taipei Zoo, take Taipei Metro Wenhu Line and get off at Jiannan Rd. Station (BR15)

Miramar is a shopping complex with stores, restaurants, and entertainment facilities. Its biggest attraction is the giant ferris wheel, the first of its kind in Taiwan. Fitted with colorful neon lights, the wheel is lit when night falls. A slow ride up to the top will give you a wonderful view of Taipei, making it a not-to-be-missed location for a romantic and happy date.

1st Stop: Taipei Children’s Amusement Park (9:00-13:00)

  • Directions:

By Metro & Bus

Jiantan Station (R15) Exit 3 → Bus Station → Line 41, Red 30 or “Taipei Children’s Amusement Park 2” → Taipei Children’s Amusement Park

Shilin Station (R16) Exit 1 → Bus Station → Line 255 shuttle, Red 30, 620 or “Taipei Children’s Amusement Park 1” → Taipei Children’s Amusement Park

Zhishan Station (R17) Exit 1 → Bus Station → “Taipei Children’s Amusement Park 1” → Taipei Children’s Amusement Park

On Foot

Jiantan Station (R15) Exit 1 -> walk along Jihe Road (about 2km) -> Taipei Children’s Amusement Park

Shilin Station (R16) Exit 1 -> walk along Zhongzheng Road and turn right on to Jihe Road (about 1.5km) -> Taipei Children’s Amusement Park

  • Admissions: Have Taipei Fun Pass touch at the card reader by the staff at the entrance to enter.

Taipei Children’s Amusement Park is conveniently located near the Taipei metropolitan area. It is the closest parent-child amusement park to the city center. There are 13 large rides such as Ferries Wheel, Bumper Cars, Music Carousel, Radial Flying Chairs, Spinning Tea Cups, Roller Coaster, Free Fall Ride, Pirate Ship, Spinning Aircraft, etc. offering different fun for children of all ages.

2nd Stop:Miniatures Museum of Taiwan (14:00-16:00)

  • Directions: After leaving the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park, take Taipei Metro Tamsui-Xinyi Line to Zhongshan Station (R11), transfer to Songshan-Xindian Line and get off at Songjiang Nanjing Station (G15), use Exit 4 or 5 and walk for about 8 minutes.
  • Admissions: Have Taipei Fun Pass touch at the card reader by the staff at the entrance to enter.

The Miniatures Museum of Taiwan is the first theme museum in Asia dedicated to contemporary miniature art. It has a wide variety of miniature fine works from the large buildings to the tiny tableware in the kitchen and picture frames in the bedroom. Everything is lifelike. These miniature art works are strictly adhered to a specific size that is 1/12 of the real object. It is worth mentioning that most of the materials of the works are mimicked from real life. The one-centimeter bottle is filled with real brandy, and the stamp-sized oil painting is painted by the real oil paint. Wandering in the Miniatures Museum of Taiwan is like walking into an exotic time and space tunnel.

3rd Stop: Yongkang Business Circle (16:30-18:30)

  • Directions: After leaving the Miniatures Museum of Taiwan, walk 6 minutes to Songjiang Nanjing Station, take Zhonghe-Xinlu Line and get off at Dongmen Station (O06), use Exit 5 and walk for about 6 minutes.

Taipei 101 skyscraper comprises 101 floors above ground and 5 basement levels. It’s the tallest building in Taiwan and a must-see destination for international visitors. It’s mainly divided into a shopping center, an office tower and an observatory. The shopping center is where brand-name stores, luxury goods, cosmetics, bookstore, restaurants and the food court are located. On the 88th, 89th and 91st floor are the indoor and outdoor observatories. The high-speed elevator ride from the 5th floor to the indoor observatory on the 89th floor takes only 37 seconds. From there every high-rises look like matchboxes! You will forget all your worries when you get a glimpse of the shimmering city and the stunning views from above at sunset.

1st Stop: Yehliu Geopark (9:00-11:00)

Touted as one of the “Top 10 Incredible Landscapes in the World,” Yehliu’s stunning rock formations are molded by constant wind and ocean wave erosion. The most well-known one of them all is the Queen’s Head, but there are also candle rock, ice cream rock, mushroom rocks, fairy’s shoe, sea grooves, and honeycomb rock as well as Yehliu Lighthouse. The unique and unusual terrains have earned the reputation of a rare natural museum. On a sunny day with the blue sea, white splashing spray and strange rocks, no visitor could resist the urge of clicking away on their cameras and exterior painter atlanta. Ju Ming Museum has both outdoor and indoor exhibition areas for the display of sculptures and art works that showcase vicissitudes of human life. The lifelike Armed Forces and People Standing in Line are also star attractions with deep implications. 3rd Stop: Danshui Fishermen’s Wharf (16:30-18:30)

  • Directions: After leaving Ju Ming Museum Taiwan, take Tourist Shuttle Bus Crown Northern Coast Line (bound for Taipei Metro Dan-shui station) and get off at Dan-shui. Take exit 2 to the bus station to get on New Taipei Bus Red 26 to Fishermen’s Wharf
